Magic Mike (R)- Channing Tatum (mmm)

Posted on 10:22 by Unknown

Tooo many butts. Yeah, it's a stripper movie, what did I expect? Not so many freaken butts! Let me just say, I don't think butts are a bad thing. All butts are the same to me no matter if it's on a man or a woman. Ok, some might be hairier than others, but still, you can't really tell what gender a butt is. The only reason I'd be embarrassed if someone saw my butt is because it's so white. Anyways, the first butt in the movie was Channing's, but I still laughed when I saw it because it's funny and it was kind of unexpected. Then throughout the movie it just kept happening and honestly, I just got bored and kind of annoyed. Like, oh my gosh again?!
So the story line was pretty stupid. And kind of dark in a way. It's like a story of the stripper life style with all the drugs and girls and weird crap that goes on. So I didn't really like that. Channing's story with him and the girl was kind of lame too. I don't understand why they would even be attracted to each other. She was so boring. Basically, Channing got some guy to strip with him, and it turned out that that guy had a sister who he was living with, and then Channing started to like the sister, while the sister just let her brother go out and strip. Really weird. The only thing I loved about this movie was... can you guess it? The dancing. I watched it with my best friend and we giggled like little school girls when he came out to dance. He's such a babe. Anyway, I'd never watch this movie again. Too many butts for my liking.

Another Update..

Posted on 14:50 by Unknown
Just a quick update on life: We ended up moving to Texas at the beginning of October, which means I quit my awful job in California where I did nothing all day long except blog about movies I've seen. Not like I do much else here in Texas since I don't currently have a job yet, but I'd rather sleep and watch TV than blog. But the husband is at work today, so I might as well catch up.

Blue Streak (PG-13)- Martin Lawrence

First of all, I really hate Martin Lawrence. He tries to be funny and ghetto, but he just over does it. Especially in this movie. Basically, he steals and hides this jewel in a building, gets caught, goes to jail, gets out, then goes back to the building to get the jewel he hid, but it turns out that the building is now a police station. So he acts like he's a police man to try to get the jewel and ends up getting put on cases and other nonsense like that. And that's annoying because, yeah I know it's a movie, but no way would it be that easy to pretend to be a cop. So, reasons I did not like this movie: 1) Martin Lawrence is in it, 2) it's a frustrating movie- where one bad thing keeps happening after another, and 3) it wasn't that funny.

Think Like A Man (PG-13)- Kevin Hart

When I first saw the previews to this movie, I thought of two things: 1) There's a comedian in here, so it's going to be really corny, because when comedians are in movies, they try to make jokes about everything, and the jokes end up not being funny, and 2) it's going to be like one of those dumb movies that have too many actors in it, like "She's Just Not That Into You," and it's going to suck because those kinds of movies always suck. Well, I was proven wrong on both points. I really loved this movie. It was so funny. It may not have been all that realistic, but I'm pretty sure I said  "mmm-hmm" to a lot of the points made in there about the opposite sex. I'd totally watch this movie again.

Snow White and the Huntsman (PG-13)- Kristen Stewart & Chris Hemsworth

I was actually really excited to see this movie because I had heard a lot of people liked it. That just goes to show that you should never listen to what anyway else ever says about movies. I also wanted to see it because I like Charlize Theron, and I wanted to see how Stewart acts outside of the Twilight movies. I wasn't all that impressed. I will admit that the first 45 minutes to an hour or so had me hooked; I was real interested in the story and everything was pretty exciting. Then when the part with the stupid dwarfs came in... I lost complete interest. So boring and extremely weird, and the dwarf scene lasted a good 30 minutes. By the time I got off of Facebook and continued to watch the movie again, I wasn't too sure what was happening, and I was just counting down the minutes until it was over.

The Dictator (R)- Sacha Baron Cohen

I don't know why I watch this guys' movies. Actually, this time I didn't pick it out, my husband and brother did. I will admit that there were some pretty funny parts in this movie, but I just think this guy is too dirty, and that's saying a lot coming from me. I don't have much else to say about it, it's a pretty typical rated R comedy kind of movie.

Ted (R) - Mark Wahlberg

Posted on 14:53 by Unknown

All I got to say is that it wasn't as funny as I thought it was going to be. I was a bit disappointed. But isn't that how all rated R comedies are? I'll give you three guesses what it was about, but you'll only need one: Getting drunk, high, and sex. Well, sexual innuendos, not really anything involving people doing it. All I know is that if I were his girlfriend, I would have left him a long time ago for him being so lazy. I know I'm dissing on "Ted", but it wasn't THAT bad of a movie, it was just predictable. There were some parts I laughed at, but none that I can remember off the top of my head. Not really something I would care to watch again, or recommend.

True Romance (R) - Christian Slater

Posted on 11:49 by Unknown
I am actually embarrassed to write about this movie. My husband and I have decided to watch "Sunday Stinkers" which means that we pick a movie that we haven't really heard much about, or we pick one that we kind of want to see even though we've heard bad things about it. Well, a couple of Sunday's ago, we watched this one, and first of all, I felt super bad because I didn't know it was rated R, and I know I shouldn't watch them anyways, but watching it on Sunday made me feel uncomfortable. Ha. I swear I'm not only a Sunday Mormon! Because of this movie, we decided that no more "Sunday Stinkers" would be rated R.

Anyway, because I knew nothing about this movie, I really didn't know what to expect. I kind of thought it would be a lovey movie seeing as that is what the title says, but now that I think about, why would my husband suggest this movie unless there was disgusting gruesome scenes and blood? Actually, he probably didn't know that it would be as bad as it was, but he heard about this movie from his guy co-workers, so I'm sure he heard that there were some "cool" actions scenes or what not. However, they were not cool. It was super gross. Maybe not as bad as Drive, but still nothing I wanted to see.

Some good things about this movie: It was funny to see Brad Pitt in this movie, apparently when he first started out. Also, I kind of liked the girls character. She was a bad-a when it came to her keeping her mouth shut and taking a beating/ basically killing someone when she was being asked questions. And the last thing I liked was that even though the stuff they did was stupid and ridiculous and immoral and awful, they did it for their love for each other, which I guess is the point of this movie.

Don't ever watch it.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (R) - Gary Oldman

Posted on 11:24 by Unknown

Let's just say, my husband wasn't too happy with me after this movie was over. First of all, they talk in these heavy British accents. Second of all, it involves war. And third of all, it does cut scenes where it goes back in time. Anyone who knows me knows that these are probably the things that confuse me the most in any movie, and this one had all three!! I was not happy.

Basically, a guy is fired from this spy-place, and then he is talked to privately about a year later telling him that there might be a mole in the spy-place and he has the task of finding out who it is. I think that's right at least. Who knows. We had to pause the movie at least ten times to discuss what was going on, AND we had to read the flippin' outline of the movie online to make sure we understood.  Well, I had to read it at least. My husband was not happy with me by the end because I kept pausing it every five minutes since I was so confused, and he was trying to explain it to me, but I didn't care to listen because I just wanted to read the outline. Also, one of the characters names was Control. So they would say stuff like, "That's not want Control said." And the whole time they were saying that, I thought they were talking about the group of men that would gather together to discuss everything since that is usually what Control is in these types of movies, right? Confused the heck out of me. Anyway, awful movie, awful experience.

Update!

Posted on 21:47 by Unknown
Books:

"Plum Spooky," "Plum Lovin'," "Visions of Sugar Plums," and "Plum Lucky"

These books are also written by Janet Evanovich and they were written 'between the numbers.' I didn't like these books as much as the number books (which I also finished btw). They were too unrealistic for me. There's this new guy Diesel who has some weird sort of abilities which don't make much sense, and it's just a side plot from the main story. Evanovich uses Stephanie Plum as the main character, but Ranger and Joe Morelli aren't the main guys in them, which is pretty much the reason they suck.

"Metro Girl" and "Motor Mouth"

This is a different series written by Evanovich (in case you haven't figured it out, I pretty much enjoy her as an author). These are completely different from the Plum novels, as in characters and the story line, but they have a similar feel to them. The main character Barnaby is a girl who needs to solve a problem, whether it be finding her brother or trying to get out some kind of trouble, and she has a partner Hooker who is the "Joe Morelli" of this series. Just like in the Plum novels, there's that sexual tension Evanovich loves to write about between the two of them. The books are a fun and easy read.

Movies:
Avengers (PG-13)

This movie was amazing. I wanted to see it again right after we finished watching it. I love humor in all movies, and this one had a lot of it. The action was good. The story line was good. The actors were good. I didn't get confused during it. It was a great movie.

21 Jump Street (R)

Omg! I loved this movie so much. It was hilarious. It's the best to see a comedy with someone who will laugh at stuff, and I saw this one with my little brother. He had already seen it before, so he knew what was coming, and he still laughed at everything. It just makes the experience so much better. Actually, it was a funny story. We got to the dollar theater, which was about 25 minutes away, and both of us forgot our IDs. The stupid girl at the counter wouldn't let my brother in because he looked too young, but she believed that I was 23. So we walked away and I told my brother to look for a back door and that I was going to buy a ticket and let him in when I got back there. But then it hit me that that was a stupid idea... I could just buy tickets for another movie, and then go into the theater playing 21 Jump Street. So we got tickets for John Carter (which I would NEVER watch) and we snuck in. Second story- who the heck brings a baby and two young kids to a rated R movie?! Seriosuly, a BABY! They sat right in front of us and the darn baby kept crying and making noises at the funny parts! After making my annoyed noises and clearing my throat, I finally just decided to move to another seat. Anyway, back to the movie. It was super funny. Channing Tatum was actually more funny than Jonah Hill, I think. I've already seen it again.

Crazy, Stupid, Love (PG-13)

I think this is one of my favorite movies. I pretty much like all movies with Steve Carrell in them (except for 40 Year-Old Virgin (below)).  I loved Ryan Gosling's character because he was such a loyal friend. The only reason that this movie didn't receive a 10 from me is because of the stupid 8th grade graduation scene. It was so awkward that it was just uncomfortable to watch. Other than that, it's a fun movie.

40 Year-Old Virgin (R)

From my experience, I would say most of the time when a comedy is rated R it's more disgusting than funny. And this movie was disgusting. Obviously it was all about sex, but it was just in a gross way. And I also didn't like seeing Steve Carrell in that kind of character. Even though he was the nerd, it was still all about him trying to have sex, and it was just weird for me after seeing him is so many other movies and shows where he isn't talking about doing the nasty. I'm pretty sure I laughed at some parts, but none of them were memorable.

Borat (R)

Also a very disgusting comedy, although this one I think had more humor in it, but the disgusting parts were the worst of any I have ever seen. I like that it was actually real footage; that these people weren't actors and they were just that stupid. It made me laugh, but I would never watch it again, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Tower Heist (PG-13)

Ben Stiller is one of the worst actors ever. I don't like any of his movies usually because I hate his characters. He was dumb in Anchorman, too annoying in Along Came Polly, The Fockers movies are just too frustrating to watch, I hated him in Dodgeball, but in this movie, I could actually stand watching him. I liked his character, and I liked the plot of the movie. The only part I didn't like was with the car. Once again, it was just too unrealistic for me. And I know, movies are all unrealistic and that's what makes them movies, but I just don't like when it's like that. I like to pretend that these stories are real; it makes movie watching more enjoyable. This movie started out fun, but it lost its appeal.

Horrible Bosses (R)

Posted on 21:26 by Unknown
I watched this a long while ago. I remember that Jennifer Aniston's part was pretty funny, and there must have been some funny parts for me to rate it a 7 on IMDb.com, but as I think about it now, I don't have any desire to watch this movie again. Not much else to say about this movie I guess. One of those movies to see once for fun, but that's about it. I wish Jennifer Aniston would actually do a really great movie like Sandra Bullock did with The Blindside. Jennifer needs one of those types of movies.

Cowboys and Aliens (PG-13)- Daniel Craig

Posted on 13:15 by Unknown
Awful. I hate westerns. I hate alien movies. And this is both.
Ok, I'll give it that it was better than I expected. I was thinking it was going to be super boring because all westerns are super boring. And then I thought it was going to be complicated to follow because all alien movies are hard to follow. But it was neither of the two. It kind of kept my interest and it wasn't hard to understand, but like I said before, I hate other planet movies. Or things from other planets. So, I didn't like it. Maybe I just had a negative attitude the whole time because my husband wanted me to watch it with him, but I honestly would have been fine never seeing it.

Young Adult (R)- Charlize Theron

Posted on 21:15 by Unknown

I was very disappointed with this movie. The previews made it look like it was supposed to be a funny movie, so I was super excited to see it. It turned out to be kind of depressing... and weird. It reminded me of Revolutionary Road in that it made me have an uncomfortable feeling when the movie was over. It started out super slow, and there really wasn't a good plot, and it had a pretty crappy ending. My husband told me it was the same person who did Juno and Up in the Air, and I hated those movies. They were awful. I'm pretty sure I'll never watch another movie by Jason Reitman. He sucks. And this movie sucked.

Time to update!

Posted on 11:58 by Unknown
I have been falling behind on all of my movies. My husband went to a Lakers game a couple weeks ago and I watched two movies that night, then I watched more the next week, and now I'm just backed up. So, it's time to update.

Bad Teacher (R)- Starring Cameron Diaz
There were some funny parts in this movie, but I didn't think it was all that great. Justin Timberlake really grossed me out as well. All she wants to do is get a boob job, then she's out of money, so she's after Timberlake because he has money, and all the while she's just being a bad teacher to get paid. She also gets what she wants in the end, which of course because it's a movie, but I wanted her to get what she deserved. Like I said, there were funny parts, but it was pretty pointless. I would not watch this movie again.

50/50 (R)- Starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Seth Rogan
I really like this movie. It was the right amount of funny, and there are some sad parts as well, and I just think Rogan played a great friend. I thought the psychiatrist girl (Anna Kendrick) was kind of annoying and there should have been another actress who played her part. I haven't liked any of her parts in any movies. But that's a different story. I kind of like watching movies by myself sometimes because I can feel any kind of emotion I want, so during this one, yeah I cried. And I even pressed rewind on some funny parts. Rogan was just really good. Anyway, I would watch this movie again. I even wanted to watch it again with my husband when he got home from the game.

Green Lantern (PG-13)- Starring Ryan Reynolds
This one was alright. Like I've said before, I don't really like superhero movies where there is a different world or a different planet. They had to introduce that world and the problems going on there in this movie, but for the most part, the movie was on earth, so it wasn't too bad. There wasn't anything really amazing about this movie; it was average. I didn't like the bad guys though. One of them was huge and could kill anyone by gliding over them, and the other one got super ugly so I didn't really want to look at him.

Warrior (PG-13)- Joel Edgerton & Tom Hardy
I did not want to watch this movie. My husband said he had been wanting to watch it for awhile, but I just didn't want to see another boxing movie because I thought I wouldn't be interested in it. So we went to Redbox with my husbands brother and we had five movies to choose from. We each deleted one and my brother-in-law had to choose between the last two, and I thought, oh yes he's going to pick the movie I want, but he didn't! He picked Warrior! I was so mad. Well, we came home and watched it and guess what.. I loved it, of course. My husband loves when I like movies that he picks out because I always doubt his movie choices. Anyway, it was really good. It wasn't as good as Cinderella Man, but it was pretty close. It was really sad on all parts of the family relationship because no one had talked to each other for years. It was just a dysfunctional family because of a drunk dad and a rough childhood and grudges were held. The marine brother was just so mean to everyone. Pretty sad. But a really good movie.

Thor (PG-13)- Chris Hemsworth

Posted on 16:52 by Unknown
I've been wanting to see this movie for awhile because Thor will be in "The Avengers" this year, and if I want to fully understand that movie, I need to know the stories behind the characters. So my husband and I finally got around to watching it, and at first, I thought it was just a really weird movie. I know superhero movies aren't real, but I like them more when they "can" be real. Like in Superman, Spiderman, and Batman, these superheros are on earth hiding from people, not giving away their identities, which makes it seem more real, and it is more enjoyable for me. So when Thor started out in this other world, I just didn't really like it. I think that's why I don't like Star Wars and other things like that. But Thor did get better... once he got to earth. It was funnier, more interesting, and more "realistic" I guess.

So about the movie, my husband made a good point. How did Natalie Portman "fall" for Thor so fast? Was it just because she saw him with his shirt off? Because he was a huge stuck-up butt when he got to earth. I thought that was a push for a love story. And my husband also didn't know when Thor's personality actually changed. When did he go from this stuck-up butt to a noble person? I think it was when he realized he couldn't grab the hammer thingy. But it's not really clear. The movie was alright. I don't think I'd watch it again though.

Our Idiot Brother (R) - Paul Rudd

Posted on 19:05 by Unknown
I don't really know how I feel about this movie. I didn't really like it much, but I didn't hate it either. It kept my attention for the most part. There were a lot of weird parts in it too, and I don't like how "white trash" they all look either. It was a very hippy-like movie. I guess I do like that the point of the movie is that he thinks the best of people. There's not much else to say about it. It's a pretty simple movie, and I don't think I would recommend it. Maybe if you're super bored.

The Vow- Channing Tatum & Rachel McAdams

Posted on 22:58 by Unknown

Ever since I was younger, but old enough to kind of know what love is about, I have always considered the saying, "I don't love you anymore" to be the most heartbreaking thing that could ever be said. To love someone and them not love you back has got to be the worst feeling in the world. To be left there with nothing else you can do, nothing to change their mind. And I mean really in love, not puppy love, not high school love where you are expecting it to end, I mean REAL love. And I know this sounds really girly and emotional, but if you just stop right now and put yourself in that position, to really think about it and pretend that it's reality, pretend that it is really happening... it's just too sad.

That's what this movie is all about. Or at least that is how I interpreted it. (Spoiler) She gets in a car wreck and loses her memory of the last 5 years of her life. She doesn't remember her husband, she doesn't remember how they met, she doesn't remember their first date, their wedding day, their first year of marriage, their home, their friends, she doesn't remember who she is with him, only who she was before him, she doesn't remember any of her life with him... and he does. He remembers it all. He loses her. He loses all that he had with her. Not necessarily because she "fell out of love" with him, but because she just doesn't remember falling in love with him. He knows the love she had for him, and lost it all. AND she never gained it back! I mean, can you imagine? To think that my husband doesn't even remember who I am and all that we've shared together, and it's only been 7 months of marriage! They had 5 whole years together!

The only reason I'm making this movie such a big deal is because it is based on true events. If this was just a made up story, I wouldn't think much of it except that it's another super cheesy chick flick. (And I mean super uncomfortably awkward cheesy.) But it's a true story! This really happened. Some man had to really suffer through all of this heartache. He had to divorce the love of his life because she didn't even know who he was.

Maybe it's also because I'm a newlywed that this movie had so much effect on me. All I can say is that it was not the best movie to watch for Valentine's Day, it wasn't a "cute" movie at all, all it did was make me super sad, and I would not ever want to see it again. It's the second saddest movie I have ever seen in my life, and the first is The Pianist. The Pianist is about a Jew during the Holocaust! and The Vow comes in second?! I know it's crazy, but it just really made me sad.

Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1

Posted on 19:19 by Unknown
I was kind of excited to go see this movie because I had just recently finished all the books. Although, I did wait for it to go to the dollar theater, so I guess I wasn't that excited about it. I do not regret waiting, because it was definitely worth the discounted price. Maybe not even worth that, but definitely not worth $7 - $10. Sooo boring! I'm not going to lie, I felt bad making my husband sit through this whole movie with me. It was so incredibly slow, and not very interesting. I do think, however, that it was more interesting to me since I had already read the books and I knew what was really happening. My husband (and all the other men who were dragged by their wives or girlfriends to the theater) had to be good sports and sit through it all. Although, I do think I saw a guy in front of me nod off as soon as the first scene came on. I do think that it followed the book well, too. Out of all four movies so far, this is the second worst. It goes: Eclipse, Twilight, Breaking Dawn, and then New Moon. New Moon was just awful. I would never watch this movie again. Pretty disappointed.

Moneyball- Starring Brad Pitt

Posted on 16:40 by Unknown

*This whole post is a spoiler alert*

I still haven't really decided my feelings on this movie, and I watched it over a week ago. I love good sports stories: Remember the Titans, Coach Carter, Glory Road. But maybe I like these movies because they actually win in the end. But in Friday Night Lights, they don't win, and that movie was tough for me to watch. I'm sure almost everyone has had their hopes high for their team to win something big, and when they lose, it just hurts. That's happened for me with the Spurs, my brother's ward basketball team, and some of my high school teams. It just sucks. So, I just don't know how to feel about this movie. I liked it because I didn't know what was going to happen. When the Oakland A's came to that 20th game, and they needed the win to break the record, I thought they were going to lose and I got all anxious. I really liked that about the movie. But when Billy Beane, the Oakland A's general manager, doesn't ever win a championship, and STILL hasn't won a championship to this day, it's just heartbreaking. I mean, why would they make a movie about this then?! Ok, so he pretty much brought that whole stats strategy to the game of baseball, but I mean, it didn't work for him, so again, why would they make this movie?! I'll just say, I was not in a happy mood by the end of it.

127 Hours- Starring James Franco

Posted on 18:17 by Unknown
What an awful thing to happen to someone. I can't believe that this was based on a true story. I already knew what was going to happen at the end of the movie, so I couldn't watch it when it came, but I got the jist of it. I didn't really like the movie though. I mean, how interesting can it be to watch someone stuck in a cave for an hour and a half. And these kind of movies make me uncomfortable anyways. I hate caves, deep-sea diving, and other accident movies like that. They make me too nervous. I kept anticipating when he was going to get stuck. I also wish they showed more of what happened after he got out. But I guess it was just as uninteresting as being stuck there. There were some good parts to the movie, like how he kept himself entertained and what he did to keep himself warm and stuff. It was alright.

Drive (R)- Starring Ryan Gosling

Posted on 20:10 by Unknown
This movie will not be considered as one of my favorites. Going into this movie, I had neither heard nor seen anything about it, but because it was Ryan Gosling, someone who I think makes pretty good movies, I was like how bad can it be? Oh, it was bad. Not only does Ryan Gosling take 30 seconds to respond to someone, and if you think about it, 30 seconds is a long time to sit there staring at someone after they asked you a question, it got kind of awkward, but this movie is outrageously gory. I had to cover my eyes just so I wouldn't see a knife going through someones body part. I will admit that the first half of the movie grabbed my attention, especially the opening action scene. I was pretty pumped up about it after the first 15 minutes, but after someone else's body part was blown to pieces half way through the movie, I wasn't excited anymore. It all pretty much went downhill from there, for me at least. Although, I will give it that the plot was totally unexpected; I was expecting more of a "Fast and the Furious" kind of movie.
